Emily's MCHS Fundraiser

When I meet with a new family as a dementia navigator at Memory Care Home Solutions, I ask them two things: How did you get here? And, what do you want to get out of coming here? The answers to the first question are pretty similar: most people are referred from healthcare providers who felt they couldn't meet a family's complex needs. Families sometimes come to MCHS and ask for very specific things like help finding care for their loved one at home or strategies to get them to take their medicine. But most of the time, the first time I meet with people, they are unable to say specifically what their needs are other than "help" or "support". No one has been willing or able to take the time to sit with them in the grief, confusion, and pain of the dementia journey. That's where MCHS comes in. I have the absolute privilege and honor of getting to meet with families every day who are finding creative ways to cope with memory and behavioral changes. I get to hear their stories and walk alongside them as they fight to preserve their loved ones' independence, safety, and quality of life.

Over more than 20 years, MCHS has built a network of caregivers, professionals, and organizations who share ideas and resources to increase support for families, friends, and people living with dementia.
